Hello guys,

We have bought your Live Compare solution and we would like to start working with it,focusing in the Support Pack Analysis, the implementation of the next Support Pack is being analyzed by the bussiness right now and I would like to know what are the first steps to start working with LC in order to analyze the behavior of the system with these changes, can you help me with the following information:

1. What are the recommended workflows we should start running in order to perform an analysis of the system?

2. Do we have the possibility to get a report with all the objects that may be impacted with the installation of the SP before we import them? Or is it necessary that we install it in one of our SBX boxes and then proceed with a comparison with the DEV System?

I'll appreciate your help and recommendations folks,

Regards,

Pedro Ruiz

Hi Pedro,

I will be on site next week to perform the LiveCompare installation and train the team in the use of LiveCompare. The main workflows we will be executing are

  • the Transport Impact Analysis workflow (TIA) from the Support Pack Analysis Template and
  • the Compare Objects workflow from the Synchronization Template

At first you do NOT need to import the SP in order to perform the impact analysis. You will need to download and physically disassemble the SP, so that the transport files can be read from the /trans and /cofiles directories.

Later on, when you want to view the actual object differences you will need to import the SP (at least in a sandbox), so you can run the Compare Objects workflow.

I hope this helps!

Thanks,

Michael Hugen
