A LiveCompare Feature is Born

In October 2007 I watched what to this day remains the biggest demonstration of LiveCompare.  Before me on two giant 30 square foot projection screens was a running LiveCompare workflow.  The current action must have measured 6 feet across.  Each ball in the spinning marquee was bigger than a football!  The running workflow was very sophisticated.  It had been assembled by a customer to protect their production system against missing/conflicting object changes that were propagated to production each week.  That week alone there were something like 300 transports waiting to go into production. The sophistication of the workflow meant the demonstrator was having to manually scroll around the workflow to track the execution.  While this didn't impact the demo, it was something I knew we could refine.  This experience gave birth to the 'Track Next Action' feature.

This story serves to introduce the central theme for the next release of LiveCompare - version 2.3 (known internally as 'Monaco').  It's all about refining the LiveCompare experience:

  • We will work on expanding LiveCompare's support for 'Enhancement Packs' to automate more of the analysis.
  • We will work feedback on the new 2.2 functionality (esp. BW and Java) into the mix.
  • We will revist the templates to make sure the information LiveCompare products is being presented in the most useful way.
  • We will work on integrating LiveCompare with the wider workflow of activities that customers use to support their SAP lifecycle.

I'll write more about the specific improvements you can expect in 2.3 as they develop.  In the meantime, if you want to remind me that there's an important enhancement request that we've not yet implemented, drop me a line or add a comment here for everyone to see.
