The Serious Side of the Conference
This week I was at the SAP UK & Ireland Users Group Conference in London with Richard and Emma from the UK office. We had the opportunity to meet with many of our customers and lots of new people too. It was very flattering to hear some of the lovely comments from customers and Kevin Caldecott of Bentley did a wonderful job in presenting the Bentley Case Study as part of the Upgrade and Implementation stream. Kevin led the team that first implemented SAP at Bentley and already had one upgrade under his belt (4.6 -> R/3 Enterprise). The 6.0 upgrade was another great success.
One of the little known facts is that Kevin first heard about our products at the 2007 conference when Richard presentated another excellent upgrade case study. To have Kevin now tell his story this year shows how the user community can really help to spread the knowledge about better ways of doing things.
The hot topics on the stand were upgrades, support packs/custom transports and general landscape synchronization, areas we have many successful reference implementations.
Next year the conference moves to Manchester. We'll be there. Hope you will be too.
The Fun Side of the Conference
Kevin was kind enough to donate a Bentley Continental GTC as a prize:

and we honoured it by running a Mario Kart competition. It was a close faught battle eventually won by Karen Wilson with a fastest lap of 27.229s.

Apologies for the blurred picture - that's just how fast Karen drives!
The final positions came in as:

Notes: (*) IntelliCorp and Bentley employee positions are for comparison only. We were not permitted to enter the competition - Kevin said so!
We also had a grand prize of a Nintendo Wii to give away. David Freeman walked away with that but his second best time in the Mario competition leads me to think someone is going to get a very nice Christmas present.

While attendees were busy with sessions we made good use of the Wii to keep ourselves fighting fit. Well two of us did. This is Emma's fitness age according to the Wii:
It must have been all the cakes we were fed during lunch.
